Traffic in Belgrade reflects the capital nature of the city, local mentality and driving habits, as well as Serbia's economy under transition and hard times in the past. Parking is charged from 7AM to 9PM (Monday – Friday) and from 7AM to 2PM on Saturdays. Maximum duration of stay is 1 hour in red, 2 hours in yellow and 3 hours in green zone – there's no limit for parking in blue zones. Of course, make sure to park your car legally otherwise you'd risk having your car towed if spotted by the police.

TRANSPORT MEANS IN BELGRADE

TRANSPORT MEANS IN BELGRADE

Belgrade is a big city, and his citizens have huge distances to overcome every day. They travel to work, to go school or college, for shopping, to meet with the friends etc. From one end to the other distances can be more than 15 kilometers. Numerous tourists who wants to visits all sights and sites that are scattered around the city, also needs transport. They look for the most comfortable and fastest transport from their apartments where they are stayed, to remote places in the city.

What kinds of transportation means are available?

Own car

Most comfortable way for commuting is with own vehicle. Drivers are not depending on the timetable of public transport, have great autonomy of decision making and organizing their time. Weaknesses of this method are traffic jams (Belgrade’s streets are not big enough for receiving so many vehicles), lack of parking spaces and traffic culture of drivers. Therefore, you need a lot of nerves and patience. Most of the tourists do not come here by car so it needs to cope with other kinds of transport.

Public transport

sightseeing bus in BelgradeThis is the cheapest way to travel through the city (especially as the majority of citizens do not pay at all their tickets). Public transport used by about half a million passengers every day, and city have around 1200 vehicles, you can estimate whether this is enough.

This situation can be seen for best during the summer months, when most of the people are on holiday and absent from the city, but transport cannot be better. However, when all will return during fall and winter begins collapse, crowds on buses and trams, delays, nervousness... tourists have option to see Belgrade at open double-decker bus that is used for organized sightseeing.

Taxi

The taxi has its advantages, but it has also major drawbacks. The most evident: they are too expensive, and most of the people cannot afford their services on a daily basis. Big blow to the reputation of taxi drivers are so-called "illegal" taxi drivers. The ride with them can cost you cheap but it could be several times more expensive, it all depends on how well you know the city and how much you are good at bargaining.

Rent a car

Car rental agencies have significantly reduced their prices and are now more or less. The advantages are that you can choose a good and a new car that meets your current needs, car can be booked online, etc. But you have to look for parking and to get through the Belgrade crowd, like everyone else,

Bikes

This is the healthiest and most natural way to travel through the city. Depending on the physical strength of rider can be cross more or less kilometers. On the other side, Belgrade is not a "bike friendly" city, there is a

very few safe bike lanes, drivers are not used to cyclists and riding a bike can be very dangerous. Besides these drawbacks, is evident that every year more and more people choose cycling as their choice for traveling, and tourists who did not come with their bikes, at their disposal are shops that rent bikes.

How much cost life in Belgrade

Belgrade and Serbia are one of the cheapest places in the Europe to travel and stay a while and experienced those special and unique spirit of them.

Serbia is the small Balkan country you’ve probably never heard of, but who has lot to offer to visitors. This is a country with beautiful mountains, spas, rivers and creeks, monasteries, cute towns you will love to visit once you see them in pictures. Special story is its jewel in the crown - the capital of the state -Belgrade

Beautiful Serbia
There are two main reasons for European tourist to visit Belgrade and Serbia:

1. it’s unbelievably beautiful and charming
2. it’s ridiculously affordable.

We will mention something about second reason

Accommodation
The average wage in Serbia is around 300 Euros a month. It is obvious that the accommodation costs can’t exceed that amount. For a decent one-bedroom apartment in center of Belgrade you should pay as much as 220 Euros a month. Outside of the center the prices of accommodation is even cheaper. The average monthly utilities would not exceed 80 Euros which includes electric, heating and water. The visitors can rent a private apartment for shorter or longer stay for  just of 20 euros per person per day. except that they are cheap these apartments are very comfortable, cozy and quiet

Eating Out

Serbians love having “burek” and other products from bakery with yogurt for breakfast, which costs no more than 2 euro for both. Restaurants, taverns and bars are not only a local’s favorite place for socializing but are also very easy on the pocket.
Grill in Serbia

A nice three course meal in an inexpensive restaurant will cost you 10-15 euro. For that price you will get salad, soup, bread, main meal with lot of meat and desert. A glass of wine is up to 2 euros, bottle of beer is 0,6 to 1,5 euro depending of place where you buy it.  Of course there are very expensive fancy restaurants but they are not for this text.

Transportation
Belgrade has several options of transportation means to choose from. One-way tickets in public transport usually cost around 0,8 euro. If you’re staying for a while a monthly pass costs around 25€.
Taxis in Serbia are also very affordable, for a 15-minute drive they will charge you no more than 8-10 Euros.  To rent a car you will pay from 20 to 30 euros depending of class of the car and length of lease.
You can even buy vehicle – used vehicle, depending how old is, can be 1200 to 1500 euros. The cost of running a car by European standards is fairly cheap, liter of gasoline is around 1 €.

Night Life in Belgrade
People in Belgrade love to have long coffee breaks with friends. Price of coffee is 1 euro. They also love things like visit the cinema, which costs around 3 to 5 euros, or visit one of many theatres in Belgrade for little higher prices of 5 to 10 euros. Belgrade’s residents  know how to parting. The clubs and bars (splavovi)  are full every night and on Fridays and Saturdays it’s almost impossible to find a seat. If you want to experience the Belgrade’s nightlife you should budget around 10-20 euros per night. It worth  every penny, believe me.
